Test compression
Beware of the smart ones!
Compression tester, a tool now unused in favor of new, increasingly high-performance and reliable engines but sometimes it comes to our aid. In this case, the parent company diagnosed the car as running at 3 and suggested the customer replace the engine. With a quick compression test we saw that the problem was not the valve/ring seal but a problem with a valve in the air manifold which, by venting to the outside with the turbo inlet, offset the carburetion. Problem solved with a modification to the intake manifold. The customer obviously left satisfied, saving an unnecessary engine replacement!
